After more than twenty years in theatre as an actor, director, producer, teacher and playwright, I decided to become an author who looooves love and HEA, allowing me to create more freely.

Main characters Emme and Alejandro were attractive and both great at acting, with Alejandro’s singing winning audience’s admiration and Emme’s dancing made them the perfect couple. There was rivalry from 2 women who wanted Alejandro for themselves and their cruel behavior to Emme gave concern to this reader. Great intrigue, family and love were on this fun rollercoaster of love. -Kath

Emmie is finally free from a loveless marriage of 8 years and is trying to find herself again. She used to have a fire within her but over time that fire slowly dulled. Now she is determined to find passion in her life again.
Alejandro is the eternal bachelor he’s here just for a good time and doesn’t want to find love again. He’s been hurt before and he NEVER wants to give someone the power to do it again.
That ended the moment Emmie walked in the door. He hadn’t even fully seen her and he felt this magnetic pull towards her. They made a deal to be only friends with benefits but their hearts had other plans.
I truly did enjoy this book. I feel like we saw Emmie fall back in love with life. She was able to bring passion back into her life with acting and in her love life. It took Alejandro longer to learn to open up and to realize she wasn’t like his ex. 4 ⭐️

I always like the books I read. But this one? Ooof I loved it! Kept me hooked till the very end! I was wanting to come home and read it after work everyday! When I put it down it’s all I would think about.

This book was written right. I don’t usually care for love triangles but this one? *chefs kiss* it was done right.

It was fast paced but not in a total rush. The spice? Perfect. The angst was blended in juuuuust right.

La Catrina or La Calavera Catrina is one of the most recognizable symbols of the Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) holiday, representing the celebration of death and the beauty of life–but do you know her origins?

La Catrina has become the “face” of the Dia de los Muertos holiday–but she was not the first! Mictēcacihuātl–the queen of the Aztec underworld was the central figure for anyone who passed on since the Aztec culture. The Aztec celebrated death as a part of the cycle of life, leaving offerings or temporary altars or “ofrendas” intended to assist them on their journey beyond death. The ofrenda tradition has carried on to present day, a topic I will leave for a later blog entry.

The image of la catrina was used in 1947 by Diego Rivera for his now-famous mural, Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park in the historic center of Mexico City. The mural depicts Posada’s Calavera Catrina as the central figure, holding a young Rivera’s hand–with the artist’s wife (and important artist), Frida Kahlo just behind. La Catrina is surrounded by important historical figures, indigenous people, and notably–Porfirio Diaz’s wife and daughter.

In present day, festival goers link La Catrina to the celebration of el Dia de los Muertos almost seamlessly through the decorated sugar skulls, face paint, and elegant dress they wear, giving a modern nod to the ancient Aztec queen of the underworld, Mictēcacihuātl.

Mariana part 1 immerses herself in this celebration, offering us a taste of history in a suspenseful and steamy love triangle.

Don Miguel’s gun sparked, creating a thunderous sound that felt like a direct stab to my heart. I yelled, but my words got muted under the shower of bullets that fell from the sky. Despite the danger, I rushed to her, wishing I could exchange my life for hers. I ran, ducking and zig zagging under the deadly raindrops made of lead.

Trying to reach her felt like an eternity, until I was finally there, next to her, straddling by her side.

From the floor, her heavy eyelids looked up and gazed directly into my eyes.

Crimson red blood covered her body.

The way she looked at me broke my heart.

It didn’t take a sunset, a stream of crystalline water in the mountains, or the word of God inside a cold dark building to finally understand the meaning of love.

It only took me to look into her pleading eyes to fully comprehend what love is.

“Mariana,” I choked on a sob.

“Whisper, whisper, whisper,” the voice echoed farther and farther away as I went deeper into my mind.

That’s how every day of the next twenty weeks began when I got recruited and began training at the farm in Virginia.

I had many friends and no friends at all. I didn’t trust anyone, and that was one of my best qualities as an agent. No one during my recruitment at Julliard could get close to me, no one could get a single secret from my mouth. I learned the hard way that telling secrets to those you trusted would not bring any good.

My martial arts expertise, and the fact that I had no one in my life I cared about, is how I got here. The agency was looking into Julliard; they needed an agent within the arts to become a secret agent, and no one would think twice about a musician.

“Again!” I hit the punching bag harder, sweat dripped down the sides of my face. I heard the other recruits’ moans as we received the orders to hit harder, faster, stronger. I wasn’t like the others, and knowing their pain only drove me to push myself harder.

“Harder!” my instructor spat. With swift movements, I punched harder, faster, creating fast combinations, seamlessly transitioning from one combination to another, blocking the pain out. My arms felt heavy and tired, but I wasn’t about to let anyone know any sort of weakness I may have. From the corner of my eye, I saw a recruit fall and then dragged away by an instructor while I kept punching and kicking the heavy bag. The buzzer rang loudly in the gym, but I kept going. I still had too much anger inside me, anger I hadn’t been able to let go.

“Stop!” the instructor called out, but I didn’t, I couldn’t. Not until he restrained my arms. “It’s time to stop now.”

They trained me to become invisible to some people, easily forgotten, but memorable to others. The latter I enjoyed the most. I could deceive anyone and pull as many secrets as possible without them even knowing. I became whatever they wanted me to become, a chameleon in a jungle.

I took my training further and used it for personal reasons. I charmed any girl I wanted to by becoming any man she needed in order to satisfy my own desires.

The CIA didn’t care, as long as I delivered what they wanted. And I always, always delivered.

I can't believe Dante would do that! I stared at my screen as I wrote the the scene. That was definitely not what I had planned… Dante decided on doing what???

The weeks I had spent outlining and plotting Mariana book 2 had just taken a detour!

A character I had not planned to have in this book for more than just a couple of scenes has now become VERY important in the story! Can you guess who it is?

My carefully labeled scenes written on sticky notes stuck on my whiteboard can simply stay there, without moving, in the same place, momentarily, until the characters let me know when to go back to the original idea, and IF (that is a big if) they decide to go that way. Who knows what they decide to do next…

So, I'm half way writing Mariana 2 and what Dante has done has even taken me by surprise!

We are back! Back from vacations where I soaked up as much sun and chlorine as I could…

There is something about laying under the sun wide awake with your eyes closed that ideas flow. From time to time, I would get up and jot the idea down in my notebook, shushing anyone that would dare speak to me… Sorry hubby...

My goal is two weeks. Two weeks to have a basic outline and I will start writing. I will stress out for not having a full and complete outline where I knew what the characters were doing and what they were up to. Until Stephen King came. He galloped in his dark horse and creepy armor to save me from even more procrastination.

Stephen King allows the characters to speak to him as he writes, and develops the story as he goes without a fixed plan. That’s fun! That’s what the first draft is for.

Now, I know I’m no Stephen King, but I do have a voice, my own voice that I want to express.

As you might know, I absolutely loved Dan Brown’s MasterClass and I do want to follow some of his suggested outline structure I learned from his class, but I will also trust my own voice and let my characters speak to me and tell me what they want and need to do as the story flows. That sounds exciting! And I believe that’s what writing to a writer should be all about.

So here I am, armed with my new coffee mug brainstorming ideas for Mariana 2!!!

Don’t let your characters run away, he/she has to face the villain. Give the hero nly one path he can't escape from, and that path is a miserable one. FIlled with danger, obstacles, monsters and personal challenges.

PACE, PROMISE, SUSPENSE

What makes a book a thriller is the pace it comes at you.

Thrillers ask lots of questions very quickly and therefore, give a lot of answers very quickly, creating new promises and asking questions all at the same time as you’re answering the old ones.

Suspense is about telling the reader, “I know something you don’t know, but I promise when you turn the pageI’m going to tell you.”

Writers must read.

Your job as a writer is to give the reader what they want in a way they don’t see it coming.

FINDING THE IDEA-

Trust your taste- Never chase after someone else’s taste. Find what you love, and what you would like to read. If you like it, someone else would like it too ( not everyone, and that’s ok too).

-Write what you want to know- Find what’s interesting to you and go research it. Choose a topic, a world that you’re excited about. Learn about the topics that interest you.

Writing a novel is a process that takes time, so choose a topic that keeps you excited through the whole process.

START WITH THE WORLD

- What is the world where I want to set my novel in? (eg, national security, mafia, magic realm, etc)

-From that world will come an endless number of more questions.Choose a world that can support the very old and very new, that creates an immediate point of conflict.

-Scan the headlines and stop at a story that interests you. If it’s in the news, it’s because there’s a point of conflict and you could probably argue both ways.

IDENTIFY YOUR SOLE DRAMATIC QUESTION

-What is my novel about?

-Will _________ find true love?

-Will _________ escape the law firm?

-Will _________ catch the thief?

This question makes the process seem manageable, it’s your north star!

FIND A MORAL GRAY AREA

When you’re trying to figure out what is the question around which this book circles, make it a question that is MORALLY AMBIGUOUS (where you can argue both sides and you will end up with a villain that is much more interesting. A hero that might say “I don’t know if I should be doing this because this guy (the villain) sort of has a point….

THINK LIKE A PHILOSOPHER< WRITE LIKE A THRILLER WRITER

What’s interesting about this world? Where are the questions? (Google the idea, talk to people) FInd gray areas, points of conflict in that world. Who’s my hero? WHat does he want? Why can’t he have it?

FOCUS ON THE “NOW” NOT THE “WHAT”

It’s not about the big idea (the what), it’s about the how, how it happens. He will get the girls, she will save the world etc. But how….?

Every idea has been done, the question is how.

How are you getting your character from point A to point B in the most fascinating way possible?

CHOOSING THE RIGHT IDEA

A- Write the prologue of all your different ideas and see which one flows and you want to write more about.

B- Which one can you write a 3 paragraph description of the book?

C-Which one do you personally want to read?

EMBRACING THE POWER AND IMPORTANCE OF PAUSING AND COMMIT TO CREATIVITY-

Answer this question: What do you do for fun? If you’re like me, you will find your mind has drawn a blank and the only thing you hear are the sounds of crickets echoing away… Even though my work as a writer is based on imagination and creativity, it is still work, filled with responsibilities, deadlines, marketing and pressure. I still need to set aside a few minutes everyday for unlimited, fun, wild creativity. I need my Unicorn Space.

CREATIVE TIME IS NOT OPTIONAL it is important and critical. What does your heart sing for? What does your body crave? What piques your curiosity? What does your intellect yearn for? What did you give up that you want to get back to? It can be anything, from creating art, expanding your knowledge, developing a new skill, any activity that you can lose yourself in and crave to go back to when you're away from it. Something that gives you pleasure outside of work, family and other obligations. Something that brings you joy.

Engaging in creative activities contribute to an upward spiral of emotions, psychological well-being, and feelings of flourishing in life, which researchers defined as feeling engaged in daily life, experiencing positive personal growth, and cultivating social connections. Creative expression doesn’t have to be perfect, it has to be fun. Creativity gives us a sense of purpose that contributes to a sense of playfulness and curiosity.

THE POWER OF UNICORN SPACE-

The truth is, if we want to avoid burning out, we have to pause and find time to cultivate our curiosities, interests, passions and remember who we are apart from our job and family role. Making time for ourselves and creating space for self-expression is vital to our self-identity. So,

I’m inviting you to think of your creative self-expression not as optional but as an add-on to your current and daily life, essential and fundamental to your physical, emotional and mental well-being.

As for me, I’ve decided to learn to play the piano. I bought one in January of last year, and found myself “too busy” and didn’t touch it at all. It stared back at me from the living room filled with music on the inside and I yearned to learn how to bring it to live. I wanted to know what it would feel like to have my hands fly across the keys creating music. I yearn to accompany and hear my husband’s beautiful voice on top of the notes while he sings, and why not, maybe even my voice (out of pitch for sure) but happily singing to my music.

Start with an hour a day 3 times a week, once a week or a few minutes daily, but start somewhere.

That is Creative Living. Give in to your calling, your passions and it will amplify your life, that my friend, with time, will help bring forth the hidden jewels within you.

We are faced with “perfection” wherever we look, but dear friends, I have to repeat this to myself over and over again no one is. And it is precisely that, that makes each one of us beautiful; we are beautifully imperfect.

Kintsugi, is a Japanese art that when a vase is broken it is glued back together with gold highlights making those cracks stand out even brighter, making the vase more beautiful and completely unique.

Wabi-Sabi is finding beauty in “imperfection” , this is what I’m looking for myself , especially during this week.

I will be kind when I look into the mirror or when I look at my work in progress. I will also be kind to myself for resting and recharging. I am not being “lazy” I am giving myself self care.

Keys to the character:

The Siren is the most ancient seductress of them all. There is a mythic quality to them such as Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Sometimes the most powerful man will do the most irrational thing for a thrill. The irrational can prove immensely seductive especially to men who alway try to be “reasonable” in their everyday life without any sort of release.

If it is the seductive power you are after, the Siren is the most potent of all. She operates on a man’s most basic emotions transforming a responsible male to a childish slave.

Firstly, a Siren must distinguish herself from other women, she is by nature rare, a myth and extremely valuable. A one of a kind gem only a selected and fortunate few get to expose to the world.

Body and adornment- If the voice must lull, the adornment must dazzle. It is with her clothes that she creates the goddess effect. No single element draws attention, it should work in harmony to uplift your presence, softly suggesting sensuality rather than screaming it.

Movement and demeanor- The Siren moves gracefully and unhurriedly, hinting that you have all the time in the world for love and pleasure, mixing and suggesting both innocent and erotic a satisfying combination. One part of you is raw and sexual while the other is coy and naive…

The Siren is dangerous, and in pursuing her energetically, men could lose control over himself, yet, it is something he yearns to do.

Sometimes we think being attractive involves being born that way…Being lucky! A near mystical trait only a few are born with. Let me assure you, it is not.

One of these should strike a chord in you and feel relatable. Once you get to know the specific characteristics of your own unique character(s) and step inside of them, allow it to grow, develop and release the seductive character that is dormant inside of you.

At the end of the day, try and remember what they were and if you wish write them down in your journal.

Pleasure is not something you escape from, tap into those small sensations and train your body and mind to become familiar with the feeling. You deserve to be pampered and learn to enjoy with all your senses and pleasure will start to become part of your everyday life. Let me tell you, I have been victim of this... I am part of several romance novel groups and it's wonderfully addictive. I've found my tribe! We all love to read, especially romance, and I must confess I have bought several book because of these ladies recommendations. The last three books I bought within the last month or so has been 1.- Pen Pal by J.T Geissinger 2- Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas and 3- Hooked by Emily Mcintire. Not to mention the amount of added books to my TBR list that keeps on growing!!!

Feminine energy comes from the heart.

This is a love story. A sad and true story of love.

The song “La Llorona” (the crier) -and not to be confused with the legend of La Llorona-, is a well known and traditional Mexican song of love and pain.

It became popular after the Mexican Revolution (1910) its author remains anonymous.

It’s origin comes from the Zapotecas in Oaxaca, and this is the story:

A young man from Tehuantepec went to a party in the nearby town of Juchitan in Oaxaca. There, he met a beautiful girl that was coming out of a temple wearing a traditional embroidered dress from the area called huipil. He continuously tried to conquer the young lady until her parents finally approved, and they married. But the Mexican revolution surprised the newlyweds and before going to battle he said to her:

“I remember the day we went to the river and the flowers in the fields seemed as if they were crying. With you, the clouds in my sky are nothing, and even the sun competes with your smile.

The war is calling for me, because peace in our country has been stolen.

I will come back to you and for our future family. I will never stop loving you in this life and in death.”

The day of his departure finally came, and as the young man painfully said goodbye to his wife sorrow shaped as tears ran down both their cheeks. As his bride wept with painful sighs he spoke to his wife holding her hands, the same hands he used to wipe her tears as he called her “llorona” (crier) because she would not stop weeping knowing she might never see him again.

Kisses and promises blew through the air as he swore he would come back to her in life or in death. The young bride also promised to wait for him no matter what.

And so, he left for war but never came back. Time passed until a mutual friend of theirs came back to town and said to her:

“Bullets reached your husband creating terrible wounds making it impossible to save him. But with his last breaths he asked me to tell you this: That he will love you forever and to please forgive him” and he took from his pocket a letter for you:”

Out from the temple you came one day llorona when I caught a glimpse of you, you were wearing a beautiful huipil llorona that I believed you were an image of a Virgin.

The sun is born in the sky, my llorona, and in the ocean the moon, and you are born in my heart, llorona, to love you like never before.

Even if I pay with my life llorona, I will never stop loving you.

Oh my dear llorona llorona you are my love

I may be asked to stop loving you llorona, but never I will do

I sing to you, my heart is happy. But also, sometimes, when it is not possible to cry, from pain you can sing too.

Do not cry my dear, because every day, on the horizon, I will wait for you.

We know the young widow cried and cried after receiving that letter and never remarried, waiting to be reunited with his loved one in paradise and claim his promise.

Their baby was born a week after the news, and every Nov 1st they had dinner together. A wife and a child in the land of the living and a husband in the kingdom of the dead. Until one day the great eagle took her and joined them together eternally.

Time passed and the story was written as a song that has been sung by many artists. A song full of tradition, love and sorrow that is commonly played on the Day Of The Dead.

“Out you came from a temple one day llorona

When I got a glimpse of you as you passed by

A beautiful huipil you were wearing llorona

That a Virgin I believed

Oh my dear llorona llorona

From a meadow of lilies

The one that hasn’t felt love

Doesn’t know what pain is

It seems as if they are crying

Creativity is not reserved for musicians, painters, writers and dancers, being creative is a way of living, it’s about success in any aspect of your life!

There are many ways to train yourself to be creative and we will uncover many that I have found useful starting today with the book Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon.

The first and most valuable concept I took from this book is that nothing is original!!!!

As a writer I found myself thinking and thinking, trying to come up with something that had never been done before only to find myself referring in my mind to books that I had ready and loved. When I began to think of an idea to write I always thought it might be too similar to a book that maybe I had read five years ago…. Well of course!!!!

After reading this book it took the pressure off from writing something completely new, because guess what? NOTHING IS ORIGINAL! We receive inspiration from other artists from things we see, hear, read, etc and instead of running from it embrace the influence and then put your own twist to it. Blend your ideas together, and that’s when magic and originality is created.

Second concept I took from this book was START BEFORE YOU ARE READY just like the quote states “ You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.” So true, if we relax a little and produce our creative project without fear of it having to be perfect then we will enjoy the process and learn more and more each time therefore getting better at it.

And finally, the third concept that I took from this book is THE LIFESPAN OF A PROJECT… Ooooh it dips low…. When we start any creative project we are highly enthusiastic, right? But shortly after it follows with us thinking “hmmm this is harder than I thought”... followed by “this is so much work!” But wait it gets even worse…. It dips even lower to “this is the worst idea ever!” And right there my friends is when you need to separate yourself from the rest. That’s when you don’t give up and push through those hard doubtful moments until you have a finished piece of art (a dish, a design, a book etc etc) 🙂

🎤Mic 👏🏻 Drop 🎤 was the only thing I could picture at the end of Sweet & Spicy by A. Unda-Tames. The ending has me thinking of the more rated r word for holy poopsickles.
I found this book ultimately enjoyable.
A. Unda-Tames was able to draw the strongest emotions out of me in this book. I felt anger, lust, love, grief... I felt it all. Not every author can do that.
We have our protagonists, Diego (H) and Nikki (h), along with our antagonist, Ryan (glkeshgl;qw). If you can't tell, I hate him with all my being. Nikki is given the opportunity to interview a famous (and hot) chef, Diego. This interview develops into something more but Ryan is lurking around the corner... wanting and waiting to ruin everything.
There were many twists and turns some of which I expected and some of which I didn't. I was happy that I didn't expect all the twists that happened. Refreshing almost, even though the twists weren't refreshing!
I really did enjoy this book. It is a steamy, yet, closed door romance that I devoured in one day. I am always the reader that wants more... So I do wish this story was longer. I wish we got more chapters after the final chapter and a little more of the future for the epilogue.
Otherwise, Sweet & Spicy is a fun read that you should not pass up.

Creativity is not reserved only for the chosen ones or the geniuses. It is not a lightning bolt that comes out of nowhere and strikes you with inspiration.

It is a skill we are all born with, and can develop it even more and more on a daily basis.

Our creative mind is working constantly, from deciding how to put together dinner leftovers and create a new meal from that, to what we will wear that day, to painting a picture or writing a book.

The first thing we need to do as artists (yes, we are calling ourselves that) is break free from the idea of not being good enough. The creative process has many phases, and believe me your first sketch, draft or clothes combination might not be the final result, and that is ok! That is why it is called the creative process…

Why? Only she knows her journey, her circumstances until finally somehow, someday, someone, opened her eyes and saw her own inner and outer beauty and talent. This was not an easy process, and despite many insecurities that made her doubt herself and others she was able to break through the layers of pain and doubt in her mind.

So you see, Romance novels empower women, as Maya Rodale said “Romance novels have been- and still are- the dangerous books that show women again and again that they are worth it.”

I am all in for romance novels who feature women with dreams and aspirations, that are willing to search and sometimes fight for her goals, and, if during that journey she meets a partner that will empower and support her, love her for who she truly is giving her even stronger wings that the ones she had before, then I’m reading that book.

Same thing happens within us, we adjust our own thermostat to whatever “temperature” we decide to. We have our own thermostat and we will not accept anything higher or lower to what we have adjusted it to. So, RAISE YOUR STANDARDS and adjust the thermostat to the highest most loved version of you, the woman you want to be, and let your “shoulds become your musts” .

Hey my friend, I have to admit I am having a love-hate relationship with my current WIP… A Lover's Wish, book 2 in the Latin Lover's series.

I have so many ideas in my head and I can see them fully, the love scenes, why they are fighting and how they are fighting. My characters pop out clearly in my mind, who they are and why they are acting this way. The problem; when I sit down to write everything is so jumbled up. The characters are complex and I have simultaneous scenes going on that I am lost on how to approach the second part of the story.

I have to admit I am a pantser. Even though I do know (usually…) what I want to see happen in the story, and where it is going, I do not have a clear written outline. I now think I should! Big piece of paper stuck on the wall of my living room filled with sticky notes! I’m sure my family will love that 🙂

Mariana, my main character, I love her. She represents so many women. She is smart, beautiful and a badass, but simply can’t get over her torn past with Dante, and is not allowing herself to move forward. Will Mateo be able to melt her cold heart? Or will he simply be the means to an end to get back at Dante?

Alebrijes are spirit guides, strongly connected with nature. The Aztec people created these symbolic creatures mixing two living animals. Their role was to link the spirits and the real world and guide a person through their lives. It is also said that they are guardians to the souls of the deceased.

In the world of the living, they are referred to as spiritual guides for the soul, reminders of your place in the world, and society, holders of the torch; They are meant to lead you in your path and help you become who you are supposed to be. They connect with our deepest true selves and our shared imaginary realm.

In the Zapotec culture the animal that will come is your spirit animal therefore the child’s personality.

Alebrijes are also used to protect and scare away evil spirits, some people might have them in their household for that reason, or simply to admire their artistic beauty and craftsmanship.

Other cultures’ like the Nahual, say there are beings that can transform themselves into animals which allows them to communicate with nature.

Alebrijes were also linked to the divine because gods were linked to a specific animal.

Commonly we now also see them as guardians to the souls of the deceased, so in The Day of the Dead celebration, it is common to see a parade with the use of Alebrijes, we can see them placed in the beautiful and colorful altares raised for the loved ones on this special day, to guide and protect the deceased soul’s in the crossing.

The origin of the Alebrijes as an art form can be traced to Pedro Linares, an artist who lived in Mexico City in the 1930s. Linares said that in 1936 he was very ill and then became unconscious. While in a state of unconsciousness, he began to hallucinate and seeing visions of a forest with strange animals.

When he recovered, Alebrijes were then hand-made which means no two sculptures are alike. They can be a cat with wings, a snake with legs, or perhaps a lion with the head of a giraffe.

His work caught the attention of artists from across the country, including Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

They are commonly linked to the day of the dead, especially after the movie Coco.

Colors and animals can represent different things

Armadillo = strength

cat= independence/freedom

dog= loyalty/protection

dragon= passion

frog/hummingbird/dog= follow its advice

jaguar/eagle/serpent= power

owl= healer

possum/chameleon/iguana=learning

butterfly/rabbit/dear= movement

COLORS

green= empathy and nature

brown= earth and animals

pink= love

yellow= joy/legend

orange=releases negative emotions

black=underworld

red=power

In the crafting of the alebrijes, it traditionally incorporates three of the four elements.

Call it myth, stories or legends, real or fantasy but what we do know is that they are unique and profound as the Mexican culture is.

Who were the original muses?

Goddesses to whom poets or any artist prayed to award them the gift of divine inspiration. I talk about original muses in a different blog post, for the the question is:

Do you want to become a muse to your own creative life or inspire someone and become his/her muse?

1-Spend time with creative people, people that like to spark beauty and imagination instead of bringing others down or criticizing the world around them.

2- Be a muse to yourself and others and be open to new ideas. The first idea might not be the one, but it will lead you to the following idea that might be the one of your choosing.

3-Encourage to explore more deeply and engage in deep conversation. Forget for a moment about rules of what can be or not be done and simply enjoy the flow of ideas within you or with your creative partner and muse. Simply be wild and joyful as new ideas suddenly pop into your mind and develop from there.

If you are a divine muse, do not be afraid to embrace your feminine spirit, sensuality and uniqueness, for you have your own energy which no one can duplicate and therefore bring originality to your work or inspiration to others. Your emotions are your guide system to a creative and better life. They let you know clearly what makes you happy and what doesn’t.

Allow your creative energy to flow in all areas of your life.

Sixteen year old Cora knew she was gifted. She felt it, but had never been able to summon it. Ever since she was a little girl, she knew there was something different about her, but couldn’t quite place or explain it, so she never told anyone about it. No one in her family was gifted, with special powers I mean, they were all gifted in a different way...

Both her parents were martial arts experts, handed down and taught generation after generation. Flawless in the use of sword fighting and lethal with their hands and legs. Battles were part of their everyday life, as keepers of peace, KOP, they were called upon constantly. There were eleven KOPs in all that guarded the city. Although magic and “gifts” used to be part of their world, no one had not come across it for decades, ever since prince Galus killed his own father, the king, and took over the throne. He then contained all of the magic within his throne, kidnapping everyone who possessed a gift, leaving the city defenseless and without it. The only thing that remained for their protection, was their superior fighting skills. Those could never be taken , it had been imprinted in their bloodline as a gift centuries ago.

Now, kneeling in front of her mother’s body, in the dark alley, rain poured down on her, trying to wash away the pain and rage she felt run through her body. It was the first time she felt it. Not the pain, pain she knew, but the tingling sensation that ran deep in her core and out through her fingertips. It was as if it was being fed by the rage she felt for the very first time.

She had always been trained to control her emotions. She was taught that they only got in your way when in battle, they casted a veil that blurred your eyesight and paralyzed you from strategy, and then, only useless impulsive action took over.

As much as Cora wanted the rain to wash her feelings away, it didn’t. On the contrary, it was feeding her, nourishing that seed inside of her, helping it grow stronger. The motionless body of her mother laying there in the dark alley was even worse than what she ever imagined. Her mother’s dark black leather suit was now stained with blood, and it began to pool around her. Slowly, it traveled down the slanted angle of the pavement she was lying on, finally dripping into the drain, probably landing on top of at least one of the thousands of rats that lived down there.

Cora was still not strong enough to be able to move and pull herself away from her mother’s body, until a noise from the metallic trash cans hidden in the corner of the alley startled her, making her jump up and stand on guard as she had been taught so many times before during the years. A large dark shadow that reflected on the brick wall quickly passed, making a slick black cat shriek, jumping onto the top of the fence and ran away distracting Cora momentarily. The shadow appeared again as he swiftly passed next to her like a gust of wind, turning for an instant towards Cora looking straight into her eyes. The moonlight reflected on its eyes making them glow in the night and then, it simply vanished.

She was still standing there, elbows slightly bent fists curled up on guard, simply waiting for what was to come next. At that moment, she realized she was very cold and would not be able to move as quickly as she normally did as the pouring rain made her teeth chatter. A lightning bolt lit the dark sky, outlining the scattered clouds as well as the body on the ground. She looked up, and felt something growing inside of her, choking her. She felt it, eating her up and she wanted to rip it out of her body. Without thinking twice, she looked up again and let out a scream that was deafened out by the sound of thunder. She was slightly relieved, but the feeling of being choked was building inside of her once more. Tears now poured down her cheeks in harmony with the falling rain. She tilted her head back almost arching and with her chest towards the sky, she let out a piercing painful scream only to be answered from the Gods above with the power of a thousand volts hitting her right on the source of where she felt the pain. Right in her heart.

In this day of the dead (dark) romance novel, we will encounter five main characters, one we have met already in Sweet & Spicy, Mariana.

Mariana: She is our main heroine in this story. We know from the previous book she is not in a good place. It is dark for her right now and covers it up with many sexual partners, drinking and parties. But here, in A Lover’s Wish, I will unveil the reason behind the pain she is trying so hard to numb. She is smart and most definitely beautiful. “ A goddess” as Nikki stated in book 1 of Latin Lovers series.

Dante: A definite yummy and delicious bad boy Mariana had a relationship with years ago. He taught her many things she was not ready for and changed her life forever. But, he did not teach her how to stop loving him and how to get over the pain he caused her.

Mateo: He is kind, smart, sexy and sensitive, everything a girl would want, even Mariana... But, soon discovers something that had never happened to her before, he doesn't want her back…

Mateo can easily see she is not a girl you would want to get involved with, but can he follow his head instead of his heart?

Camila: Despite Mariana’s attitude against women, Camila sees the good in everyone and knows how loyal and kind Mariana actually is to the people she trusts and loves. She is a true friend despite the difficulty in joining her circle of trust. But is she close enough for Mariana to help out when she finds herself in a dangerous situation?

Sofia: She is all about greed and jealousy, her lack of self esteem makes her do the impossible to feel better and get an adrenaline rush. She doesn’t like Mariana, especially, she doesn’t like the way Dante looks at her as she immediately noticed how his pupils dilated the minute he saw Mariana after so many years.

So here it is my friend, a very rough introduction to my characters in A Lovers’s Wish, a day of the dead romance novel in the Latin Lover’s contemporary romance series. Early in the morning at 5 am I like to wake up, meditate and watch a couple of videos where they will set me off to a graat day! I will then journal and I am ready for my day. This process usually takes from 5am to 6:50am when my children wake up and we get ready for their school day ahead. I often encounter wonderful videos and this is one of them.

Here are Priyanka Chopra Jonas's 12 rules to becoming a better you:

1- There’s only one you. Understand who really that person is, and find your unique self. That is the best version of you.

2- Let your dreams fly! Give them wings, you have all you need within yourself to be who you want to be just by being fearless.

3-Be ambitious, take and explore new opportunities. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious!

4-Be greedy and hungry for your ambition. Don’t be scared to want more for yourself than you ever thought you could.

5- Do not settle and compromise on your dreams, No one can tell you who you should be and fight for your dreams

6- Fail, fail, fail again and then rise like a phoenix. Because, You will fail and there is nothing to do about that. It’s what you do after that, that will define where you go. 9- You cannot please everyone all the time. No matter what you do, someone will always be unhappy. It is easy to be confused between the voices that actually matter and the opinions of faceless people. Those don't matter.

10- Don’t take yourself too seriously, have FUN and enjoy this beautiful journey!

11-Give back. Don't be quick to judge, be kind, be compassionate, be human and give back wherever you can.

12- Always remember where you came from and be proud of it because it's part of what makes you who you are. Don't forget your roots and where you came from.

Book 2 Adventure to Dragon's Isle was so special to me, as I was not as focused to establishing autism awareness asI was in book 1 but here I dug deeper into my characters and established a magical land of fae. Also, I wanted to touch a lot more on Kaia's character, her feelings and emotions and how she begins to find herself.

Reading these children’s fantasy books is sure to enchant your child and transport them to worlds they can only dream of. Thankfully, there are plenty of fantasy books for kids out there. But that can also be overwhelming. My time as the young adult and middle grade shelver at work and as a middle school reading tutor showed me how hard it is for parents to find age-appropriate material for their kids but you don’t need to worry about it. I have figured it out for you. The book I am about to tell you all about is a fantasy read which is not just a kids read but I would give it a YA read too. When a reader like me can get engaged reading such a story the kids are going to love it for sure. The book I am talking about is called “Adventure to Dragon's Isle (Risho & Kaia)”.
I usually start with the title and the cover of the book majorly because it's the most exposed part of the book to the viewer’s eye. May be not to all but the readers do notice the appearance of the book which sets the vibe before reading. When it comes to “Adventure to Dragon's Isle (Risho & Kaia)” it has a very interesting cover. I feel the children and young adults are most attracted to the title and the characters. This one has both interesting characters and the title.
Talking about the content of the book, the book has been written in about 195 pages. The detailed storyline offers a great reading experience to the readers. The element readers are going to love are the characterization because the perspective of the story is just amazing. You know there is always a view point of the story, when that point of view is well understood by the readers the story makes sense and readers get more attracted to the story. The feelings hit harder. The scenes of the story are so well constructed that you feel like everything is being played inside you head. You are definitely transported to a worl created by the author and I am sure the target audience is going to fall for the book and its characters. I loved the buildups in the story and they gave an amazing experience. The feelings associated with the story were very well translated through words. Telling you a bit about storyline, Risho is sick of standing out. The poor young man nevertheless feels trapped by cruel bullies and the problems of everyday life, despite having fae blood and carrying a potent stone of protection. However, he courageously swears to rescue his little sister after she is taken away by a wicked wizard. Kaia has a deep love for her older brother. But she feels invisible because everyone is so preoccupied with his issues. The dissatisfied child, however, finds more fun than she ever imagined when she is kidnapped through a portal and taken to a foreign land, where she encounters elderly witches, cunning cats, and sharp-toothed birds. . I am sure you guys are going to love this one because it has all of what a reader craves. Also I would like to thank the author for giving me such an experience through the book.\"

I LOVE passion! It is one of my favorite emotions that gets that fire inside of me burning!

As we have learned from our heroines in books, and in my previous blog, How to incorporate Romantic living into our life, we first have to become who we truly are before being able to attract or give to our partner.

I want to dive deeper into the third point we touched in that post which was: Seek for passion and love in what you do

Imagine what it would feel like waking up each morning eager to get up and go to work, because that is exactly what you are passionate about.

So what is passion?

It is a strong feeling or emotion. An object of someone’s love, liking or desire. is all about emotions, the motivation of what makes us feel good, it is wild and exciting. It can be a form of self expression, in art or a physical activity. It is all about feeling, not thinking.

Let’s establish, that in this particular blog post, the passion we are talking about is Passion in life, do not be confused with passion in love, at the start of a sexual or romantic relationship and the feeling towards another person (which is totally delicious…) That, my friend, we will talk about later in a different blog post.

Passion in life allows us to create something extraordinary , passion is the fuel that keeps the fire burning.

We all become tired or frustrated at some point, since things or situations will not flow perfectly at times. But passion is what helps you get up again and try it one more time.

Not everyone knows what they are passionate about and sometimes it is not easy to find. A book that I would recommend is The Artist’s Way. Even though it is geared towards unblocking the “blocked” artist, It helps the reader discover in twelve weeks who they truly are. Sometimes we might be afraid and repress our deepest love and desire due to external influences that we, our family, friends or society allow to get in our heads. This book makes you look within and find yourself. (It does have some religious context but in the introduction of the book, it states to feel free to ignore this or to substitute with the word of your choice.)

In this 12 week workbook, morning pages and the artist date is the core and foundation of transformation. My copy is highlighted all over and I strongly suggest it.

Hello dear friend,

As you might know I am very passionate about autism awareness since I have am autistic son, and today I bring you a story that filled my heart with joy. I wrote my middle grade series Risho & Kaia based on my children in the hope that adults, teachers and children better understand what autism is. By the reader putting themselves in the main character’s shoes, it is a fun and engaging way of creating empathy for the character and learning more about it. A dear friend that read the book recently reached out to me and told me this story:

Aggie, I wanted to share a store with you because I immediately thought of you when it happened. As you know, I continue to work at the Black Canyon Visitors Center. This morning, because of Labor Day weekend, the store was unusually busy and crowded. In spite of the high noise volume, I could hear high, piercing noises being made by an eight year old child. You could tell visitors were getting irritated with the child and his persistent noise. The mother was allowing the child a lot of freedom in the store and was not in his close proximity. Along with the noise, he would often grab our stuffed animals and toss them into the air. I immediately knew the child was autistic. I overheard one of the older male visitors turn to his friend and say, \"That kid needs his butt beat!\" He didn't realize the youngster's mother was close by. She quickly informed the man, \"My son is autistic\". After the men left, I discreetly approached the woman. told her I was a retired teacher and apologized for the man's insensitivity and for not being aware of autism. Long story short, we had a delightful and long conversation. It made me more aware of how many families can often bear a burden having to explain things to absolute strangers. In the course of our conversation, I mentioned you, your children and your book and how you wrote this as an attempt to make adults and children more aware of how an autistic child views the world. She was very interested in the book. She said she will definitely be ordering your book online. It was a wonderful thing to know that \"my friend Aggie'' has written something so important that other families can feel solidarity and strength in helping the world know more about what their children deal with. HUGS to you and the family!

Of course as I was reading I was wiping way from my cheeks tears that were rolling down. Not only because I could feel the pain from the little boy’s mother but I felt so proud in giving the tools and a sense of awareness to my dear friend in spotting the child and understanding that his “inappropriate” social behaviour had nothing to do with a lack of parenting but because of his condition.

This is a great book to read at home with your child, for homeschool or to read in a classroom. With discussion questions after each chapter it opens up communication on the subject.

Latin Lovers series- Sweet & Spicy

Hey my friend, I can’t wait to share with you the cover reveal and of course the whole book!

Today I am thrilled to give you a glimpse of my two main characters. After spending months and months with the characters, creating them, writing about them and getting to know what goes on in their heads you feel so attached to the characters at the end.

Allow me to share a personal story of a funny thing that happened to me while writing this book. My husband and I were chatting and I was telling him about what was going on at that point in the story and what I wanted to write next. A couple of days later when he asked me how the book was going and how the writing of the scene had gone, I explained a curious thing that happened.... “Oh no that’s not what happened at all! Nikki got really mad at something that DIego said to her and she did not take it well, so she got pissed and did something completely different from what I had planned!” My husband looked at me quizzically not fully understanding or maybe a little worried that I had completely lost my mind! Lol!

I love it when my characters take me into their path, show me where they want to go, what they need to do and so on. So, without further ado, here are NIkki and Diego in Puerto Vallarta. (drum roll….)

What is Romantic Living?

Romantic living is inspired by Romanticism in literature. It sees beauty in the world, ourselves and others!

I personally believe we are in a period of time where, especially women, have taken this era and made it our own, personalized, and brought into our daily lives.

I am not talking about ways of being romantic, (lowercase “r”) which is an “expression of love and dedication in a way that's intentional, unmistakable, deeply affectionate, and often involves dramatic or passionate gestures, though smaller actions that indicate enduring affection.” Dear friend, don’t take me wrong, I absolutely love being a romantic and I will talk about this in a different blog post…

But what we are focusing on here is, appreciating and looking to incorporate a Romantic way of living into our personal lifestyle.

The Romantic movement in literature consisted of these points amongst others

Awareness and acceptance of emotion.
Celebration of artistic creativity and imagination.
The writers of this era did not shy away from the dark side of emotions and exploration of spiritual and supernatural elements.
Appreciated and seeked solitude.

Romanticism Definition in literature

The term Romanticism does not stem directly from the concept of love, but rather from the French word romaunt (a romantic story told in verse). Romanticism focused on emotions and the inner life of the writer, and often used autobiographical material to inform the work or even provide a template for it, unlike traditional literature at the time.

Romanticism celebrated the primitive and elevated \"regular people\" as being deserving of celebration, which was an innovation at the time. Romanticism also fixated on nature as a primordial force and encouraged the concept of isolation as necessary for spiritual and artistic development.

What exactly is Romantic living and how can we incorporate it into our lives?

Here are some basic points to start off with:

1.- Look for authentic emotions and trust your intuition:

Do not shy away from feelings, and listen to your gut or feminine intuition.

2.- Embrace all ways of artistic expression:

It doesn’t mean you have to be an artist, but expressing ourselves through any art form is liberating, reaching deep inside us when we allow it to flow, finding our true self.

3.- Seek for passion and love in what you do:

Imagine what it would feel like waking up each morning eager to get to work, because that is exactly what you are passionate about.

4.- Seek to discover who you really are:

This does not come easy to some women, believe me it took me years to begin to know who I was and what I was passionate for, but there are resources, books and tools to help you guide the way. Journaling is a great tool for this that I will talk about in a different post.

5.- Learn about spirituality and the supernatural: I began this journey through meditation and oracle cards, and really love it!

6.- Welcome individualism

7.- Show love and respect to nature (mother earth, animals the cosmos etc)

8.- Recognize the importance of imagination and creativity. Like Einstein said “Creativity is more important than knowledge. Knowledge will take you from A-Z. Imagination will take you everywhere.”

9.- Believe in equality and embrace others. (culture, people, color, etc)

10.- Focus on love and finding beauty in the simplest of things.

11.- Have an interest in learning: “The very act of learning something new disrupts the way you’ve always seen things-and the way you’ve always been.” - Robin Sharma

11.- Believe in romance but also appreciate romantic fiction 12.-Practice self-care: This is the first step to loving yourself.

Hi dear friend,

Today I would love to share with you some of the things I have learned while reading and writing romance novels.

1.-We all have our own paths with our own personal struggles:

Every novel that you read, the character needs to go through some sort of transformation, a character arc. Even though we may think that the girl next door might have it all compared to ourselves, we realize that even though she may not have the same struggles as we do, she/he still has her own barriers she/he may need to conquer and break free from.

2.- We can get through dark times even though it may seem impossible at first:

Time and time again we see our main character run into challenging situations. We see her fall and get up again. As we all know we will fall many times in our path, but we will brush the dust off, learn from our mistakes and try again until we get it right.

3.-There is someone out there that will love us unconditionally:

Not everyone might be right for us, and we will sometimes learn this the hard way, but I truly believe there is someone out there for everyone! And, no, not everyone is perfect, not even ourselves, even though that may be hard to believe… ;) but the beauty of it is, that we don’t have to be. We can love and be loved by someone with our own or opposite quirky imperfections.

4.-We need to work on ourselves before things begin to fall into place

We need to be in a good place ourselves before we can even start thinking of another person complementing us. Yes this could be a long and deep journey, but it is also a fun one! We accept who we are, we love who we are… Not only physically but also our personality, our thoughts, ideas and feelings. This is a good place to start, building confidence in us as a person. Confidence and attitude go a long long way!

5.-Hot steamy, passionate loving sex awaits….

Sex has been such of a taboo for a long time making us feel “bad” if we somehow enjoyed it. On the contrary, sex is beautiful when done with the correct person. Yes, I do believe you have to be mature physically and emotionally for it ( and aware of certain risks, so please know all these before considering being intimate), but once you are there, it is the utmost expression of love! Freedom of expression regarding this act can have such a wide range that we will not go into now, but maybe in a different blog post…

Not sure if reading a romance novel is right for you? Here are five benefits I find when reading or writing a romance novel.

1- It is usually written by women for women, so the reader can very commonly identify and find a voice, inspiration and empowerment in the character’s journey.

2.- It is a celebration of love and hope. As a romance reader you know that it will end in a HEA or a HFN bringing hope to the reader, knowing love is possible no matter the color of the skin, background or social status etc.

3.- We learn that sex is good, pleasurable and it is okay to enjoy it! It builds deep connections to another person just as it does in real life.

4- We develop empathy and understanding of other people. Everyone has their own past with their unique obstacles that they have to overcome. The path might not be easy, and it is most probably not, but at the end it is possible, emerging triumphant not only in love but as a person.

5.- Romance novels are books! So no matter what genre you choose to read, it is well known that reading has many benefits, such as: It improves brain connectivity, increases vocabulary and comprehension, reduces stress, prevents cognitive decline amongst others.

Dear friend,

This week I trudge fiercely into the fun but also scary place of brainstorming for my next romance novel!

My brain is a mess as is my notebook! Full of bits and pieces, scenes here and there, and characters that visit me in the middle of the night with something witty they have said to the protagonist and I need to get up and write it down (which would be the smart thing to do…) Or, I think I am a genius and will remember it all by morning (which never happens…)

Since I was writing Mariana’s character in book 1 I knew I wanted her to be the protagonist in book 2. A good girl gone bad! It checked so many of my favourite things and I couldn’t wait to lead her on her adventurous path in order to find herself in her own book…

As I brainstorm for book 2 in the Latin Lovers series, at this point I definitely do know what I want, but also question so many other things and IF I want them for her journey.

By now, I basically have all of act one! Okay, I have it all in my head…. I even know what I would like the cover to look like! I am, though, stuck on which tropes to include…..

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorites, and I was thinking of maybe including a love triangle in there. Knowing Mariana’s personality, I could easily see her going through this, so I might throw in that trope. I can’t wait for you to meet her in book 1!

This week is all about brainstorming and outlining. I am using a b6 Stalogy and a mauve croc Moterm notebook cover, which btw I love!!!

Why is it set in Puerto Vallarta, Mx?

Well, I decided to set this Latin Lovers series in Puerto Vallarta where I lived for over 10 years, because I believe it would be the perfect set for the new Latin Lovers romance novel series. Its beautiful beaches, sexy-curvy women, and fearless tanned men were inspirational in the writing of this inter-ethnic romance.

WRITING PROCESS:

My process through this first novel was not an easy one, as I began writing it in April of last year and abruptly stopped 25,000 words in during the summer. Fear took over me, and sabotaged my confidence. No one in particular said anything to me, heck, no one had even read it! It was all in my head…

I had written two fantasy middle grade books before, but suddenly felt unprepared, unqualified and an imposter. I felt I was playing in the big girls team without ever going to a single training.

What did I do? Stepped back and decided to take the whole year off. I would read books about the craft (outline, structure, plot, characters etc etc) and read as many romance novels as I could. I would train and prepare myself. I had no idea when I wanted to return to the project though….Until one day in March of this year, as I was organizing paperwork at home, I ran across a copy of the manuscript of what I had so far.

I read over the first few pages….. Hmmmm interesting I thought. I kind of liked what I had written so far. I had forgotten so much of the details, characters and plot, that as I read more, it was as if I was learning about this story for the first time. I kept reading and after 25,000 words I felt good about myself. I actually thought it was not that bad. Of course it could be improved, but there was something there. A little embryo of a novel waiting to be fully developed.

I gave it a few twists and turns that I had not thought about before. Changed my protagonist name three times, (I will reveal those in a newsletter, re-wrote it all in third person and then changed it back into first! And now here we are, with a smile on my face as I write this blog post.

So, as you can see my friend, fear paralyzes us, it stops us from becoming who we want to be.

I have written my first contemporary romance novel! I know it’s not perfect and I also know I will do better in the next one, but I can’t wait to share it with you!

WHAT IS AUTISM?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a difference in the way a kid’s brain develops. Kids with autism may have trouble understanding the world around them. Kids with autism might have trouble:

Talking and learning the meaning of words.
Making friends or fitting in.
Dealing with changes (like trying new foods, having a substitute teacher, having their toys moved or a change in routine).
Dealing with loud noises, bright lights or crowds.

Kids might also move in an unusual way (like flapping their hands or rocking), or do the same thing over and over (like saying the same word).

A kid with autism may have a little trouble with these things or a lot. Some kids may need only a little bit of help, and others might need a lot of help with learning and doing everyday stuff.

WHAT CAUSES AUTISM?

Autism is something people are born with. No one knows exactly what causes it. It probably has something to do with a kid’s genes and other things that change the way the brain develops.

HOW IS AUTISM DISORDER TREATED?

There is no cure for autism, but treatment can make a big difference. The younger kids are when they start treatment, the better.

Doctors, therapists and special education teachers can help kids learn to talk, play and learn. Therapists also help kids learn about making friends, taking turns and getting along.

WHAT IF MY FRIEND HAS AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER?

All people deserve respect, but kids with ASD may be teased, bullied or left out because they’re different. Bullying and teasing are never the right way to treat other people, but it may be hard to be a friend with someone who has ASD.

Kids with ASD often don’t understand playful jokes. You may need to be very clear when you communicate with someone who has ASD.

Try to be patient and kind. Remember how hard it might be for the person with ASD to understand how to be a friend. Stand up for classmates who are bullied. Tell adults, so they can help protect kids who are bullied.

Creativity, as I see it, is an important skill for any child and adult to have, as it is helpful throughout our lives. It is not only used or saved for “artistic people” but it is used in our daily lives. All children are born creative, we can see this in the way a child easily plays with toys or peers using their imagination without any sort of self-doubt.

But why is creativity so important:

It is a process of self-expression. Creative experiences can help children express and cope with their feelings. ... Creativity also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, and new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

Creativity allows us to view and solve problems more openly and with innovation. Creativity opens the mind. It broadens our perspectives and can help us overcome prejudices.Plus, it develops confidence, language, physical and thinking skills, imagination and emotional understanding.

Dramatic play helps preschoolers make sense of the world. Arts and craft activities encourage self-expression and decision-making.

The most important thing creativity leads to is new thinking. If you can use your imagination to see problems differently, to see ideas differently you will come up with solutions that nobody else has thought of. Plus, it is fun!

There are many different ways and areas that we can play around to develop our imagination and creativity:

Creative writing
Dance

Back to school!

Back to school can be exciting, but can also be mixed with so many different emotions! Maybe a little bit of sadness that summer is over, or anxiousness of what the school year may bring both academically and emotionally. Some kids adapt easily, while others might take longer, especially if moving to a new school.

One of my favourite ways as a teacher and parent to communicate with a child without them feeling pressured or in the spotlight, allowing us to see how the school year is going is through journaling. There are several ways this can be done, either through free writing or with the use of prompts, where we can guide their writing slighlty to where we want them to go towards. Children on the autism spectrum might feel overwhelmed by the different ways things are done in this new school year compared to last. New sounds, new people, new friends, teachers, you get my point... It's a big change and sometines change can be hard.

It is not only important for teachers to be able to understand these kiddos, but also, I believe, it is a good idea, that the rest of the students in their grade understand why a child on the spectrum is acting the way she/he is. What is stemming and why do they do it? Why the meltdowns? And how to befriend a student on the spectrum. Because believe it or not, they still want to feel that they belong and are liked just like the rest of us.

I would like to share what it is like for my son Risho.Even though he may not know the name of his teacher or his peers, he will know if someone was nice to him, helped him or even if he was wanted and accpeted in their team during pe. He also wants friends even though that might mean, or be, slighlty different that what it means for the rest of us. Kindness goes a long way!
